Portfolio Managers

John Potter, CFA is a Founding Principal of Cortina Asset Management and has managed the Cortina Small Cap Opportunity Strategy since its inception in 2004.  He has more than 20 years’ experience in the investment industry.  In addition to overseeing the direction of the portfolio at large, he analyzes energy, industrial and consumer companies.  John began his investment career at M&I Investment Management Corp., now known as BMO Asset Management Corp., as a securities analyst and then mid-cap value fund manager.  In 2000, he joined Firstar Investment Research & Management Co., now known as Nuveen Asset Management, where he managed small cap core portfolios.  He has served as a board member for the Milwaukee Investment Analyst Society and currently serves on Cortina Asset Management’s Board of Managers.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Tom Eck, CFA is a Founding Principal of Cortina Asset Management and has managed the Cortina Small Cap Opportunity Strategy since its inception in 2004.  He has more than 20 years’ experience in the investment industry. In addition to his broader portfolio management oversight, his deep research effort is directed toward health care, financial and media companies.  Tom joined the State of Wisconsin Investment Board in 1997, spending two years as a Research Analyst, and from 1999 to 2001 he was an Analyst for a small/mid cap domestic equities team at Strong Capital Management.  In 2001, Tom joined U.S. Bancorp Asset Management, now known as Nuveen Asset Management, to co-manage the Health Sciences Sector Fund and began managing institutional and individual portfolios dedicated to the small cap asset class in 2003.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Senior Research Analysts

Jennifer Hanson, CFA is a Senior Equity Analyst and has been with Cortina Asset Management since its inception in 2004.  She has more than 20 years’ experience in the investment industry.  As a Senior Equity Analyst, Jennifer supports the Cortina Small Cap Opportunity, Small Cap Growth and SMID Growth Strategies.  She is responsible for equity research in the consumer sector, including the retail, gaming, lodging and restaurant industries.  Her investment industry experience began in 2005 when she joined Firstar Investment Research & Management Co., now known as Nuveen Asset Management, and where she remained until Cortina was founded.  She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Jeff Nevins, CFA is a Senior Equity Analyst and has been with Cortina Asset Management since 2018. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the investment industry.  As a Senior Equity Analyst, Jeff supports the Cortina Small Cap Opportunity, Small Cap Growth and SMID Growth Strategies.  He is responsible for equity research in the technology sector, including software, business services, semiconductors, communications equipment and hardware.  Prior to joining Cortina, Jeff was a Senior Equity Analyst specializing in the technology and health care sectors.  In this capacity, he helped manage small and mid-cap growth institutional assets for seven years at Neuberger Berman and five years at RBC Global Asset Management.  Jeff began analyzing growth companies in the technology sector in 2000 at First Analysis Corporation where he served as an Equity Analyst evaluating both private and public investment opportunities.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Research Analysts

Roger Rama, CFA is an Equity Analyst and has been with Cortina Asset Management since 2015.  He has more than 5 years’ experience in the investment industry.  As an Equity Analyst, Roger supports the Cortina Small Cap Opportunity, Small Cap Growth and SMID Growth Strategies. He focuses on the broader industrial universe, primarily researching and analyzing stocks in the small cap space.  Prior to joining Cortina, Roger worked as a sell-side equity research analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Adam Dahms, CFA is an Equity Analyst and has been with Cortina Asset Management since 2016.  He has more than 5 years’ experience in the investment industry.  As an Equity Analyst, he supports the Cortina Small Cap Opportunity, Small Cap Growth and SMID Growth Strategies.  His focus is on the broader health care universe, primarily researching and analyzing stocks in the small cap space.  Prior to joining Cortina, he was a Senior Equity Research Associate at Robert W. Baird & Co.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.
